Hi everybody,

Lately, say the last six months or so, this site has had to deal with spammers on a daily basis. The mod team has been excellent in capturing these kinds of posts, and usually they don't stay too long online.

This has ALWAYS resulted in an immediate deletion of the account of the poster, a ban on his username, email address, and sometimes IP address even. I'm sure that none of the regular and genuine users of this site will mind.

Another reason why a user can be banned on this forum, is because of his behaviour. Basically there's only two reasons why a user can and will receive a ban:
  • if he/she asks about/defends pirated software on this forum, or
  • if he/she is deliberately rude to other users and/or the moderation team. Rudeness will not be tolerated on this forum.
Depending on the situation the mods or myself can also decide to give out a warning, but if the response is not positive, then a ban will surely be the logical consequence.

Of course the 'real' users of this site need not worry about all this, since it doesn't apply to them.

Bart

To add to the above....

While we allow links to websites in people's personal profiles or signatures, these must be PERSONAL to the member.
Links to commercial sites are only allowed if
1. they are SatNav related, and
2. the member is directly related to the website and has previously cleared it with the admin/mods

New members who have not made any genuine sat-nav related posts and who have a commercial website in their sig or profile notes can expect to have their membership deleted immediately.
