Replace your existing "ttsystem" file with the one at http://www.crane.co.uk. I have tested it briefly without issue and it is a simple case of rolling back if you take a backup first.

It is a re-compile of the current firmware with a very minor change so I can't see it causing any problems. I'll leave the image there at least until the next firmware is released.

Regards
Andrew

So just to get this right .. Does this fix automatically turn your TomTom off when you turn the vehicle ignition off and also allow it to automatically turn the TomTom on when you start the car back up again?

(As long as the cigarette lighter connection powers on and off with the ignition which mine does.)

If this is what it does it is fantastic! good.gif

It always did the latter, but the former was nobbled by tomtom around release 6.1. This fixes the problem. It does mean you are stuck with this software revision until Tomtom decides to remove the nobbling from the mainstream firmware or until you decide you can do without the auto switchoff, but it's better than having to downgrade to a 6.0 release.

Well I installed it and my 910 has auto power-off again!

However, I think there may be a slight problem. I use bluetooth for making calls...I have the 910 wired into my audio system so I can hear callers over the car speakers. I noticed that today after installing the recompiled ttsystem file the audio seems to stutter during conversations (which never happened before).

Interesting. I only changed the single line of the kernel code that blocked the auto-off. This is kind of backed-up by the fact that the new code is only four bytes in length different than the official code. So I think that either this symptom is coincidental or alternatively, the published kernel code does not 100% reflect the official image release.

I have changed just the flag that says that your equipment has auto-on-off, so all I can think is that either a bug fix hasn't found its way to the published code, or alternatively, the symptom is unrelated to the code change.

Or maybe perhaps, Tomtom disabled external audio for hands-free for a good reason and didn't expect people to re-enable it through the "enable-external-hands-free" fix. It is possible that the hardware simply isn't quick enough to decode the audio codec when talking to a stereo external source instead of the mono built-in source.

Regards
Andrew

Andrew - as you know, I've had the phone audio enabled for a while now using your previously posted workaround (which is awesome btw). I'll make some more phone calls tomorrow and see if it persists, then replace the original file to see if it goes away.

You can download it using IE...when the "Save As" dialog comes up, change "Save as type" to "All Files" and remove the .txt extension from the filename...then click "Save".

Ok I tested the custom firmware. It correctly shutdown for me... I've got a Go 910 and with the modified firmware I don't have a correct reading of battery. It show always battery in orange and about 40% charge but he doesn't charge it. So I never see the "in charge" message.

Second and worst I can't use the TMC RDS receiver as he don't get recognised.

I tried swapping ttsystem several times and the problems are only on the modified one.

Hope to help.

Simon

It worked as far as turning the 910 off when the car went off, but it also put me about 7 miles off on the map. I'm in North America, could that be the reason?

Probably not. It is the same program. I only recompiled the Linux kernel, not the navigation program. Therefore I'm pretty sure this is unrelated.

It's possible that the linux kernel published by Tomtom is out of date. I will check for support of TMC RDS in the kernel and get back to you.

Can be.. I was thinking about (maybe) something usb or serial related.
Do you think that also the battery problem is something like that? Am I the only one to have this problem in Battery indicator?
