Big change- now 300 user POI categories allowed (reported by TT themselves but not personally checked this yet).
UPDATE: This seems to have been "pulled" by TomTom, 'Home' is not offering it to x20 owners any more (whether this is a problem with the software or with 'Home', I don't know!)

7.220 - As supplied on Go 920 (reported 10/12/07)

v7.522 - May 2008 - TomTom ONE 30-Series and TomTom XL 30-Series only (a.k.a "4th Edition" models? ) * Minimum Requirement for these models

v7.900 (9180/081021) - 2st? October 2008 - For Go Classic, x00, x10 models, ONE (all editions), XL 30-Series. Released in order to allow support for v815 maps on these devices (but without IQ routing or other new features). Mapsettings.cfg CANNOT be copied across from previous versions, so Favourites etc. have to be saved some other way. Unconfirmed reports that TMC receiver is not working with this release.

One report that the full build number is 9183/040301 - which doesn't follow the normal date format, but this has been seen before sometimes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

v8.001 - 12 April 2008 - First report of NAVCORE 8 on a UK machine, a Go930T (actually, it looks like it may be a grey import as TomTom insist they haven't been shipped to the UK yet!). Maps are v800.1766 - A lot smaller in size than v715 ones.

v8.002 (9117/080328) - 12th April 2008 - First "improved" version already available thru home! OS : 164445 GPS V1.21 Boot 5.5010

v8.010 (9369/080529) - 5th June 2008 - for GO x30 series, ONE 30-Series, XL 30-Series, ONE XL, ONE XL HD Traffic, ONE 3rd edition only. Reported OS:190943 GPS v1.21, Boot 5.5010 Gives Map Share support for Australia and New Zealand, USA Fuel Prices, HD Traffic Receiver support, RDS-TMC Receiver (USB) support for GO x30's, other minor bug fixes.

SAME VERSION v8.010 (9369/080529) briefly made available for x20 models but "pulled" by TT soon after, apparently simply because of complaints that there was an icon for lane guidance so people thought it should work.

SAME VERSION v8.010 (9369/080529) reappeared - 19th June for x20 models - LAST version with FM transmitter enabled for Navigation voice.

v8.011 may be an early version of TomTom's "Work" service (reported by MA)

v8.012 (9370/080602) - Seen pre-installed on a new ONE 30 Series (4EE0.001.00) BootLoaderVersion=55016

v8.014 (9372/080613) OS: 198799 GPS v1.21, Boot 5.5019 - Seen pre-installed on an XL 30 Series Europe with TTS (Comet exclusive)

v8.016 - Date? -TomTom GO 630 only

v8.051 (9404) - TomTom Go x20/x30 - Unknown.

v8.203 (9717) - As supplied on Go x40 models. No FM for nav. voices.

v8.204 (9718) - Offered to a 940 user 11/11/08 - No changes from 8.203 except some 'internal naming conventions' according to TomTom.

v8.300 (build 9732) - 10th November 2008 - TomTom GO x20 and x30 series only. Support for IQ Routes 24/7 data (map version 8.15 or higher required) plus support for 8GB and larger SDHC cards. Nav. voices over FM disabled. Major problems with slow screen updates and stuttering voices reported by many users.

v8.301 (9736/090114) - 10th February 2009 - TomTom GO x20 and x30 series only. No great changes from v8.300. Report of one small fix for Australian 9x units where EPT was not working. Home emulator not supported at release date (as usual) - fixed 18th Feb '09.

v8.310 (9760) - 22nd January 2009 - TomTom GO x40 series only. Support for all iPods (requires a Dock with iPod support). Support for Active Dock with RDS-TMC. Improvements of Google Search and Traffic handling. Fuel Prices are retreived automatically. GPRS signal loss is indicated. "Other minor improvements"

v8.320 (9901) special version for TomTom's "Work" service for Go x20 and x30 Devices. Presumably there have been others of these, but this is the first I have been made aware of. v8.011 may be an earlier version (reported by MA)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: The list of versions of "Home" have moved to their own topic HERE.
Reason for edit: Update A.P. 11th Feb 09 - Added v8.301

Hallo Andy_P,
first of all let me intodruce myself. I'm Oskar, member of the german sister forum and here's my usual "playground". You've made a very good job on this, I believe. We do not have anything comparable in our forum, although I consider the information very useful. Do you mind if I copy the outcome of your work into an excel file and post it in the german meintomtom forum?

Fine by me... good.gif
Normally, I'd say to run it past Bart (the head man on this forum), but as it is a "sister" forum and all part of the group, I'm sure its OK.

Be aware, it is "work in progress". Hopefully other people can fill in some of the gaps.

Thank's so much, Andy_P. I've translated it of course and I'm aware that it is in "progress".

Hi Andy,
I have just reloaded my original SD card onto my Classic for a trip down memory lane and the version is 4.420. The Classic was bought in mid 2004 and the system files are dated Oct 2004. Some other files are dated March 2004. The firmware was obviously updated as the system files are dated later than the purchase date.
My question is does anyone know the original firmware version number and can I get a copy somewhere?

Thanks for the info Bruce. I'll add it to the list, but I can't help with your question, I'm afraid.

Andy
As a newbie I'm not sure if this is where I should add this information. Apologies if it is in the wrong place!

I have just installed v7.162 firmware for my GO910 and was amazed to find that it now supports uploading of the phone numbers from my Nokia N95. I had almost given up on this, but full marks to TomTom for delivering this feature which I'm sure will apply to a number of the latest Nokia phones.

You may like to add this to your feature list.

Just been asked if I would like to update to the latest version. 2.1.2.121 which you have listed as being released last October. I know I live in the sticks in good old Kent, and we still rely on steam power, but come on, why ask to upgrade to a version that in itself has been upgraded.
The mind boggles

I've updated the list with this:

v7.480 (9083/080306) - 13th March 08 for x20 models only. Recalled almost immediately - no reason given. Returned as v7.480 (9084/080313)- 18th March 08 - x20 models only. Unspecified minor improvements / bug fixes, adds support for TomTom's recently announced HD Traffic Receiver. Various issues reported including loss of speech recognition on some systems and on-screen emulator in Home now broken.

Anyone got any corrections or anything to add?
