Hi,

My Tomtom Go710 was in service few weeks ago (hardware failure, service has replaced internal circuit). I had maps from Western Europe, New York city and US Western Region working before service, but now I can't activate US-map anymore. New York City and Western Europe works like a charm.

My device code is same as before service and also I have tried:
1. to use Tomtom Clear Flash tool
2. to get activation code from www.ttcode.com
3. to format SD-card and install from backup
4. to install US Western Region again
5. to downgrade firmware
6. to upgrade firmware
7. to use different SD-card
8. to contact Tomtom Support... they have forwarded my problem to technical support team

I see that nobody is able to help me, but do you guys have any ideas?!

Thanks!

How does it fail to activate?
Does www.ttcode.com give you a new activation code?
Does the TomTom not get as far as asking for the code, or does it say the code is wrong?
Does the map show up in "Manage maps"?

Device says that activation code is not valid. www.ttcode.com gives me exactly same activation code that Tomtom support team.

When I select Us Western Region map from "manage maps" Tomtom says that map is not activated and asks for an activation code. When I type activation code (worked before and same code that www.ttcode.com and Tomtom Support team provides for my device) the device says "code is wrong" (or what it might be in english... my devices language is Finnish).

Weirdest thing in this mess is that I can activate and use that US map from Tomtom Home ("my device", where you can use your tomtom from your computer). Map activates and works fine, but when I take my device from home docking station and boot Tomtom again, map is not activated...

And yes that map is legal copy, bought from Tomtom Webshop.

Also I need to buy more maps from Tomtom, but I have no courage to buy anymore maps, before I get this one working.

I think I have hit the same problem today as I try to move my US Western Region maps from my old GO500 to my new GO720t ...

However I think I have managed to get one stage further than the OP as I think I have found the cause of the failure to activate ... there is no 'space' button on the activation on-screen keypad to separate the 3 sets of digits !!

How this managed to get through I don't know - but can only assume that TT now issues codes without any spaces but forgot about those customers who need to activate legitimately purchased maps !!

Anyone had any solutions ? ... I am currently trying to discuss with TT about a replacement map ...

I think your problem is quite different from that of harkonen. He just tries to reuse a map which he bought legally. What you do is a violation of the map licence agreement you have made with TomTom or vice versa, even if you are absolutely not aware of it.

This agreement contains a very simple rule: One map --> one device, and you are trying to make two of it! wink.gif Oh, and by the way, better forget about the TT support.

Jont,

You have never had to add a space when entering the code. They break the code up into 2 sections so you won't get confused, but you enter it without a space. This has never changed.

If you are trying to use your old code on the new TomTom, it obviously won't work.

You should be able to to get a new code from ttcode.com. You can do this every 6 months.

And to ease Oskar's mind, it's all OK if he's no longer using the older unit.
