Just ordered the above from Halfords. However, I'm out in Brittany for 3 more weeks and the gizmo is in North Yorkshire! Any tips or tricks I may need when I finally get my hands on it? Will it need the maps updating etc?

Order the cheapo £20 2GB Memory card that Dabs are doing at the moment, works great with the 310D and you can download the entire Euro DVD onto it and still have space left over for some audiobooks or MP3s.

Also update the firmware there is a firmware patch on webupdater as the ones in Halfords have an old firmware version

Then call Garmin and ask for the new Power Lead, there is a Fix for the problems with the TMC unit losing signal sometimes that includes getting an updated car power lead, if you call Garmin they will mail one out next day, you dont even need to mail the old one back or provide your receipt. the TMC problem does not affect all users but its worth having the latest lead in case the problem arrises for you in the future

After that you can downloads Garmins extended Basemap, 130mb from Garmin. it gives a worldwide basemap with highways around the world, very useful if you stry outside areas that have normal routable GPS coverage.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Enjoy your 310D its a greeat bit of kit

Hi

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, stuck on a 2/10 shift at the moment!

The link is

http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quick...NavigationKey=0

That will take you direct to the page, it was on offer over the weekend at £19.99 but is £21 now!

Still a stonking good price for a 2GB card

The TMC traffic came in very handy today, I had to get back to Mansfield from Leciester and due ot the heavy rains the M1 was a nightmare, the Garmin rerouted on the TMC reports and kept me away from the M1 all the way back, ands I was back in time for work (Oh Joy!). SO looks like its the death nell for the I will be late in the Motorway is screwed up excuse.

Cheers

Richard
