Tele Atlas: charting Eastern-Europe

Tele Atlas, the Belgian map-supplier, is currently very busy at catching up with NAVTEQ when it comes to charting Eastern-Europe.

Well, that's a start, I guess. I'd like to also know how they're doing in North America and how quickly will the new data be implemented into TomTom's database and available for us to download. Currently the wait for somewhat up-to-date maps is very lacking, IMO.

They said .... "The last areas that were added to this database were Ireland and Northern Ireland."

I believe that 910 owners have the latest maps. The coverage in Ireland, North and South, is an improvement over the Gt Britian plus map I have on my ttg 300. However it's still pretty poor!

Does this mean that we are about to get a massive improvement in coverage of Ireland at the next map update? excl.gif

Tele Atlas has now indeed charted Ireland and added that data to their database. But those roads won't end up on any TomTom unit, until TomTom decides to release maps based on this database. (from what I read, this is already starting to happen with the new ONE, which is a very good thing! Won't be long now I figure! clapping.gif )

Thanks ninelives ... I'm now looking forward to receiving the next map updates. Now we're going to get improved maps I'll probably just get as impatient as everyone else. yahoo.gif yahoo.gif yahoo.gif
