Has anyone else heard of this, I found it while looking for movie software for my phone, it doesnt seem to be out yet, but it sounds pretty good, especially if you can dump movies onto the hard drive of a 700.

Uhhh, i wonder how this will work?

But the pausing while driving is a real letdown for me, i want to see my "Dr. House" episodes while driving in order to remind me what would happen if i crash.

Anyways is not avaiable yet.

Are there any free alternatives to this?

Sounds like a great plan (!) - I wonder if I can maybe draft up a tender for new business while driving to work. Perhaps have a shave? Trim my hair? Oh no, that's right, maybe I should be DRIVING while I am driving. Common sense anyone?

You can always let the passenger use it though.

The Tom Tom isn't used on 80% of alot of peoples drives as they know where their going.

As an ex-HGV Class 1 driver with 30+ years at 60K accident free per year I still wouldn’t class myself as experienced enough not to be distracted by a “movie” or similar playing on a screen which my passenger was watching. Obviously this new multi-tasking generation of drivers are more skilful than me.......

Why not make it personal? If you don't like it don't get it, I just think its a pretty neat idea.

I believe that anything like TV or movies must be out of the line of sight of the driver to be legal.

I think the law had to be changed to allow digital speedo displays, as the original ban was on all electronic displays.

Although I did have a ride in a Volvo which had a pop-up SatNav/TV screen in the dash, but the TV only came on when the car was doing less than 5 kph (3 mph).

Well its now available for download.

I have tried to get it to work. I have been able to convert a movie.

I couldnt get the software to find my tomtom's drive when using the usb connection so I uploaded it manually.

I was then able to run the software but it crashes when I try to watch a movie.

It appears you need to upload the movie software and movie the first time by usb only.

I have tried a heap of ways to get it to find my tomtom drive with no luck....anyone else had a go yet?

I wish this would work on my 910. I travel a lot and could use it in airports, on a plane, or when I am desperate for English when I am in Germany and tired of CNN.

I have just had a few emails back and forth to thier tech support guys and have found the problem.

Make sure the media filename isnt too long.

Also they are fixing a bug with the picture size.

QUOTE
It's 320x320 (should be 320x240). this is a bug in our pc software, we will fix that. hopefully a new release later today.

Ok, so what codec is this thing using to encode the videos? The player on TomTom is decent, but I'd much rather use my own video conversion solution to create the video for it than their buggy/quirky software.

And if anyone has the full version, does the volume get any higher than it does on the demo? Because I know TomTom is a lot louder than that...
