Please help a newbie out... these discounts are too good to be true so I have upgraded the software but see no discount mentioned when I look at the ‘add maps’ area. I have 4 maps that came included with the unit... Go930... and would love to save 50% as 2 of the 4 maps are over 50 weeks old already *good on ya TT*! Any help would be appreciated.

Give TomTom support a call. They are the only ones who can help you with an issue like that.

I've been told that it only works on the map that you last used, so you might need to go to "Operate my Go" to switch maps. Yes, I know it sounds stupid, but it wouldn't actually surprise me.

Hi All,
Just downloaded Home 2.4 and have lost all my map share updates , now shows zero. When I go into map share preferences it does not list any countries. My trust preferences are set at medium but even if I choose low it does not offer me any updates even when I re-put my 930go into its cradle.
Any advise much appreciated.

All went well with my download. I also bought the latest map for my 520, this also installed without a hitch and appears to be working without any problems with Home 2.4

Yes same here. See my post here and kwc's excellent reply, which says it is a problem at "their" end, to be fixed (hopefully!) next week.

I would stay right where you are with v2.3 for now!

As mentioned above (and all over the place!) Home v2.4 is deleting people's Mapshare corrections.

V2.3 is fine for downloading other stuff, but Mapshare is not working for a week or so anyway

You should be using Windows Explorer, NOT Home, to make the all-important backups of your system.

A HUGE reminder - if you haven't made a backup yet, PLEASE do it now. See HERE for instructions.

Not sure if this is anything new or relevant...

...But TT Home just advised me there was a new update (incremental only) today (09/10/08), from 2.4 build 092 I think it was, now to 2.4 build 104

Not sure if this fixes the MapShare issue or anything else, as I am just installing it now as we speak.

I've got 2.4.0.104 too. Haven't noticed any difference except it is even more crap than usual.

first it seems to have got stuck thinking I've just updated software, because every time I log in it flashes up a new window telling me to disconnect then reconnect. Boring.

Plus it is now trying to "update me" to v6 maps and postcodes that I threw away 2-3 YEARS ago!

I don't think it will sort out Mapshare downloads, we know for certain now that it will take TomTom throwing a big switch at their end to get it back. But it might be something they need to have in place for the downloads to work when they do!

Well I thought all the problems had been resolved - That'll teach me to read more threads!
Not quite sure what it has done to my GO yet, but here's a snapshot of what it offered and what didn't work...

Attached File  untitled.JPG ( 48.46K ) Number of downloads: 1

Strange thing is my Mapshare Indicator says this:
Attached File  untitled1.JPG ( 7.19K ) Number of downloads: 0

Yet the other day it showed 238523 - so although it has given me another 16,000 (total of over 50,000 updates in 3 days) it still thinks I'm 20 weeks out of date! Useless!!!!

Oh, and still doesn't show any Countries in the list or POI's??!!

Just done another update and it gave me the same 32mb but this time installation was succesful - my counter now shows Map up to date with 252088 corrections - strangely less than yesterday!!??
Reason for edit: Update:

I've decided life is too short to worry about ANY of the stupid things Home does.
Look at your Go like you did before we started being offered all these Home downloads...

We all thought it was a pretty neat bit of kit, didn't we?

So I now TRY to think of anything Home manages to give me as an added bonus, and I'll only get upset when it REALLY screws up and takes things away! sleep.gif

It's taken away my GO completely - it's gone into powering up fine - sitting on the navigation screen from variables of 3 to 15 seconds, then makes a sound like the speaker popping and switches itself off!! aggressive.gif

I hadn't connected my TTG700 for several weeks and find all this business about Home updates.

Gads! What did they do?

It gave me a list of ancient maps that I bought two years ago. Version 644 it was designated back then. Since I didn't want to keep seeing these maps on the download list, I decided to download and see what happens. (note: I've been here long enough to know about how to properly back up my TT before letting Home do anything to it.)

When it was done downloading *and* installing all the maps (regional maps of North America) I determined that Home must have thought they were new versions due to version number differences. These "new" maps are designated 644.28829 not just 644. Or it is related to the change in directories for downloads. The maps go in separate directories in the map subdirectory in the designated downloads directory.

It's a good thing I put the 8GB drive in my unit awhile ago. I now have 3GB of maps on it. I'm sure I would have had a few choice words about Home's behaviour using a smaller drive like the original one.

Now I have a bunch of maps on the computer that are duplicates. Do I dare clean it up or will Home give me another list of maps to download next time? I'm not going to venture there.

TT: need a Home feature for DOWNLOAD ONLY without the automatic install.

When I downloaded the N America map in the summer, I found that all my (european) Poi's had been added to it. Is this still happening under the new system software?

When HOME installed all the old regional North America maps, it installed all the POIs to all the directories of the regional maps. This must be by design so the POIs can be available regardless of the map being used at the time. I doubt HOME has any knowledge about whether POIs are applicable to any given map.

It is probably better for them to be copied than to have a lot of customer support issues for missing POIs.
