Just thought I'd be the first to let everyone know! Notice that the 810 version is being offered for the x20 series along with the x30 series so Lane Guidance should now be enabled along with IQ routes!

Good, but are the benefits of the map upgrade worth £100?; I personally don`t think so.

I will stick with v7.20 maps on my 920t; at least until the price drops very considerably.

Lane Guidance and IQ Routes (Weekday/Weekend) are available with the 805 map. Is the IQ Routes with 810 map the new 24/7 or does this require a firmware update?

Cool - so as I purchased a v7.20 map a few weeks ago (within 30 days) do I qualify for a free upgrade and how do I get it / download it?

Lee, it looks like you are in luck. If you purchased an x20 model recently, the Latest Map Guarantee WILL get you a v8 map. (Darren at PGPSWorld has it "from the horse's mouth", see HERE).

(I bet you will have the usual battle, with Home denying it exists though!)

So if anyone wants a cheap "x30" model, buy an x20 now (£152 for a 520 from Amazon) update the software for free and get the v8 map with the LMG!!#

EDIT: Sorry Lee, I misread your post... thought you said you'd bought a new MACHINE not a new map.
Apologies if I raised your hopes wrongly.

I know nothing about this myself, but Darren at PGPSW also says "They'll work fine, but I'd still suggest holding off on purchase until TomTom make an announcement next week, can't say more than that."

The plot thickens!

No. The 30 day map guarantee only applies to new activated devices within 30 days.

So if say you bought a NEW model and it had been sat in a suppliers stock with maps 6.20 - the device gets activated and if it's in the last 30 days, then you can upgrade.

It does not apply to purchased maps.

As I found out today from TT. cray.gif

I purchased a new Go 520 just over three weeks ago, and yesterday, not wanting to leave it until the last day... Saturday... of the 30 days, used my "latest Map Guarantee" option, and was offered and downloaded map ver. 720...I found out later that evening that Tom Tom has released Ver. 810.

Have been on the phone to Tom Tom suppor today, and they have asked for my receipt, but told me they probably will not give me the ver. 810 map... strangely, they are insisting that I downloaded ver 720 on the 2nd of this month,... but it was definitely yesterday...the 4th,... my argument is that they offered me the ver. 720 as the latest map for my model on the day ver.810 was available... but I have no way to prove which day I downloaded, so am dependent on their playing fair with me.

To upgrade to ver. 810 map using latest map guarantee, you have to have purchased a machine with a ver. 7** map installed... mine had ver 715.

When I looke at the ver. 810 map at the Tom Tom shop, the info mentions the intelligent route planning feature, but nothing about lane guidance

Alan.

The date and time you downloaded the 7.2 maps will be listed in the TomTom Home download folder. On my PC this is located in

C:\Documents and Settings\myname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\map

(where my name is my actual name).

AlandEi... I would fight this.

As the v8 maps were put up on the TT servers on Thursday and you purchased on Thursday, you should have been offered them.
The maps are intended for the Go520 and it is not your fault their system cannot tell that you need to be updated to v8 software for it to offer them to you (and its debatable if it would have done even if you had!).

Welcome to yournav! smile.gif

According to TomTom the latest map for the 720 is v8.10.

It's what they are offering on their site here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select...p;selector=true

There is a 30 day "latest map guarantee" from Tomtom (at least there is in Europe...) that says that if a new map is released within 30 days of you buying a new Tomtom satnav, you are entitled to a copy of the newer map for free.

I've not bought a tomtom recently, so I'm not that familiar with the way you go about it.

Try here: http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?La...ee&FID=7954

It doesn't mention the 720 specifically, but does state "all newer models" whatever that means...

A couple of things to note:

1. The guarantee actually states that the guarantee is 30 days "from when you start using the device", not date of purchase.

QUOTE
TomTom provides you with the latest map pre-installed on your new device. On top of that, if a newer map is available within 30 days from when you start using your device, you are entitled to one free map download. You can check if there is a new map version available as many times as you like within this period.

2. Either a Tomtom mistake, or something more devious? Or was the 720 not sold officially in the USA?

But the list of satnavs for UK includes the 720:

QUOTE
The latest map guarantee is available on:

TomTom GO 930/730/530
TomTom GO 920/720/520
TomTom XL 30-Series
TomTom ONE XL*
TomTom ONE 30-Series
TomTom ONE 3rd Edition
* Only if the device came with the 7.xx application and 7.xx maps pre-installed

Yet the 720 is missing from the same page on the USA site:

QUOTE
The latest map guarantee is available on:

TomTom GO 930/730
TomTom ONE (30-Series)
TomTom XL (30-Series)
All newer TomTom devices

Before going onto the TomTom website and checking. Make sure you have the latest version of TomTom Home installed on your PC

QUOTE
You can check for a new version using TomTom HOME 2.3 or higher. This no longer requires the map check code.

Risking the wrath of Andy_P... biggrin.gif ... just to let you know Anchor,... I have found that my ISP logs my daily usage as I am on a monthly limited download plan... and this definitely shows that the only day with enough usage to download the 720 map was indeed Thursday... I am hoping that Tom Tom will now accept this, and realise that their records are mistaken.

Cheers... Alan.

Welcome, if the latest map guarantee is available for your device, you will find it in HOME under Tools, then click on Latest Map Guarantee. It should then check what version you have and offer you the latest. Before accepting it, click on more details or similar and, if it isn't version 810, don't accept it but get onto TomTom Support
