Can't believe it's already been cracked, As soon as released it seems they are too easy for the pirates to crack, Navcore 8 has been cracked for a few weeks now, I'd resisted the temptation to download Navcore 8 and install on my 520 as it wouldn't of added any extra features such as Advance Lane and IQ Routes as you need V8 maps, Plus the fact it's probably illegal to use Navcore 8 on a device it wasn't intended for?, Although from my understanding the hardware is the same ( x20/x30 ) and Navcore 8 will more than likely be officially available for x20 in a few months or years..!!! Knowing TomTom..!!!.
I'll admit I've tried Navcore 8 on my x20 and it works very well, I haven't tried the maps as that is illegal but I have read about other people who have used a V8 map and they have all the features of the x30. My question is when Tomtom officially release Navcore V8 for x20 will it be the same as for the x30? And if I bought a V8 map when TomTom release them would all the extra features work on my x20 or would TomTom disable them? I really hope TomTom do the sensible thing and allow all those features and release Navcore 8 and V8 maps sooner rather than later for the x20 range. It's very tempting to go down the illegal route, But I won't, If TomTom do the right thing then I'd buy the V8 map. I know they'll release the x30 first but if they make available the Navcore 8 and V8 maps with in the next couple of months I'd be prepared to wait. I feel the longer people have to wait the more people will go down the illegal route. It's clearly in the interest of TomTom to officially release them sooner than later. |

I can't see how using NAVCORE 8 on an older machine is actually "illegal" although it probably breaks some part of the EULA (that no-one ever reads before they agree to!)
However, pirating the maps is a definite no-no legally (and morally). As we all know, the hardware of the x20 and x30 models is identical, so when NAvcore 8 is released for the x20 models (and it will be), IF there are any features missing if you have bought a v8 maps as wel, then it can only be due to TomTom deliberately crippling it, like they did when they brought out the ONE 3rd Edition. But if they DO cripple it in some way, I would have thought the copying of software between machines will become rife!!l We'll have to wait and see! |

Well sometimes pirating is the only way tomtom has to keep it's promises.
One of my friends bought a TomTom One, and after 28 days, Tomtom lauched a new map, he used Home aplication to use it's latest map garantee but couldn't because it said no map was avaiable altought they were for sale on tomtom site. On the same day, He made a question to tomtom service support, and about 8 days later they told him, is 30 days garantee had already expired, so he was not entitled for the new maps. After a long discussion on with service support, he finaly told tomtom not to worrie as we would download pirate maps and upgrade is own equipment, basicly doing tomtom job. By doing so he prevented tomtom from breaching it's on EULA and being charge with false publicity. I feel tempeted to do the same thing as my xl europe is sitting inside it's box for 4 months now, waiting for tomtom to resolve my problem with the crippled Xl europe Maps. -------------------- Windows: Where do you want to go today?

I don't believe that V8.02 has resolved the problems that occurred between v7.221 and 7.481 . So, I wouldn't want to go there yet!

It may be great having the new firware and maps but how long will it be before TT realse the updates for older models eg mine One XL UK?????
I only got the unit nefore Xmas and couldnt download any map guarantee updates as it said the same as above no update was available. So its no wonder that piracy goes on all the time for software.... Steve PS Just seen on another website forum that the newer models of One Xl and One are to be released in May 2008 !! so will hvae to wait even longer now i suppose..... Firstly, there is NO excuse for pirating maps in my opinion.
IF the situation was as Wolftec describes, TT didn't have a leg to stand on and would have given him the new map once it was explained clearly enough for their (sometimes) tiny brains. As for the software, it still amazes me that TomTom DO produce new versions of software for even their EARLIEST devices, it cannot be an easy task. But all you hear is people moaning and asking why TT haven't released it for their older model so far, when in this case the new range that are the first to use it haven't even been officially launched in this country yet!! |

v8 maps work fine on 720 using navcore 8.002.9117. Tested using Western and Central Europe and North America. For W&CE map is v800.1766 and for NA is v800.1762. Some cspeech files were initially missing, but downloadable direct from TT site.
IQRoutes and Lane Guidance works fine. It is faster than older versions of maps, but still many map errors not corrected despite many corrections sent to TeleAtlas. We still await Western Europe map. Already MapShare reports 24497 corrections to W&CE map. TTHome in demo mode does not show Lane Guidance in Demo mode, but PNA does. It works fine.
Reason for edit: removed unnecessary quoting.

Yet elsewhere we have seen that 8.02 is not working fine on a 930 as some of the issues of 7.481 are still present.

It's no surprise that V8 software is working on the x20 models (as well as it does on the 930 anyway!) because the hardware is identical between the x20 and x30 models.
In fact I had briefly seen it working on a 720 back in February, as all the beta testing for NAVCORE 8 was done on 720s and 920s! |

But the 1st bug I see is that there is no "Accounts" button between "Copyright" and "Done (OK)" buttons. On v7.221 it is there and on 7.480/1 and 8.02 it is missing

After a lot of deliberation I decided to give the Navcore 8 a try on my 720. To my surprise it works quiet well the new style of menu is interesting. However the biggest surprise is Mapshare. With the official 7.22 and 7.48 both my original 7.10 and 7.11 New Zealand maps did not support Map corrections. This was explained by TT that the map provider did not support this feature and to keep checking for updated map's in the future.
Well you could imagine my surprise when I selected Map corrections I didn't get the warning about the map not supporting this feature, what I did get was the option's to not only correct blocked roads but I could change the speed limit of a road. So it would appear that it is not a map limitation but a software limitation imposed by TT. The Mapshare feature was one of the main reasons I went with TT when I was updating my Navman iCN520, so was a bit disappointed when I found it did not work. So I hope TT will release the update to V8 for my 720 soon that way I can officially use this feature. Until then I might just be a bad boy |

Being the adventurous little devil that I am I just tried using the new Navcore on my GO300, programming in a route causes the machine to seize up requiring a reboot but apart from that minor problem it's looking good for the old GO300 users like me.
ps I did a full backup before I started mucking about with the navcore -------------------- TomTom Go 300

But most of the flashey V8 features do not show up on the classic or the 300? but it runs ok.

Presume you're all using hacked copies here, as there's no official release yet?
