Looks good, I like the option that tells you what lane to be in on the motorway. pehaps we`ll see less numbnuts cruising the middle lane at 50mph

Just downloaded the latest firmware for the go720 and have noticed that this actually includes the exceding speed level in red instead of it flashing.

Seems like TomTom are trying out a few version 8 fetures on us first!!!

Well, it flashes on my 520 from the supplied v7.221 via 7.480 and finally v7.481.

It's not too distracting, in my opinion, and the numbers are pretty easy to read.

Checked again and it does flash on my 520 Music Edition. Doing a bit of m/way tomorrow, so will keep my eyes on it (from time to time, of course)

Well, this is what happens - On the M62, Speed 70/70 background normal

Speed 73/70 - Normal
Speed 76/70 - Flashing Red - 10 - 15 seconds
Speed 78/70 - Steady Red
Speed 76/70 - Steady Red
Speed 73/70 - Background normal

Off the M/way it did the same where the limit was 40, but it flashed at 35/30

What happens with other devices, I can't say.

I concur with previous poster, it does flash initially on my 520 also. - still at variable times though. Would prefer it to be a fixed 5% over limit.

Must have changed back to that behaviour in v4.80 then.

Strange, because so many people complained about it flashing previous software that they finally stopped it some time ago.

Well, it's only the background of the current speed/speed limit figures, so it's not that distractng. I have to say I chose a free stretch of road and watched hat happened when I tested. In normal driving, I just don't notice it visually, but I have a chime on to alert me to the current speed.

I just went out last week and bought a GO 520 and now read this sad.gif

May take it back and try to get the 530 for a few quid more.

I'll be gutted otherwise.

Well the 520 and 530 are identical hardware wise, and the software will become available as a free download. But for all the new features you will need to buy the latest map. Probably cheaper to go and get the 530 as you say.

There is no release date for the 530 yet, as far as I know. Could still be a month or two away....
