actually i thought it was pretty obvious why this was the last to be launced in the TT range. Simply coz TT could never get TMC working properly! A flagship model with dodgy TMC?! makes TT look even worse!

my guess is that they had some problems integrating the MEMS technology (EPT) into the GPS

*Tomtom Go 500 v7.160, swedish map v7.10, suntime 1.6a plus tons of extra pois + free speedcameras for sweden and a drumma visor in a Nissan Almera 1.6l Silverstone.. the latest maps are f**king awesome. the only thing i'm missing now is SirfstarIII, AGPS and Sirfdirect (hello!!! GO920!!!) |

The review suggests by implication that the GO Classic didn't have an accelerometer built into it. It does and it worked OK on my Classic. It looses itself after about 40 seconds though.

Yes it had an accelerometer.. so it could vary it's speed along the route.. but it needed a gyroscope to guess when you made a turn, so exits from tunnels where routes diverged was always a problem, so 40 seconds was always the best it could do.
