I just updated the software on my 720. I disconnected from home and was greeted with a screen (green surrounded by white) with a TomTom picture on the left, a little hard disc in the bottom right and a large flashing red circle with a white cross. Soft reset powers off. Powering on brings the tomtom logo and the flashing red circle with the cross again. In all other respects it is dead!

Being seen quite a bit... See THIS TOPIC in the "Latest News section. Post #28 (and discussed several times after that) seems to fix it for quite a few people.
EDIT: Sorry, typo - I meant post #21 |

In fact, a call to TomTom solved the problem. The 720 software had become corrupted during the upgrade download. TT sent a very helpful email, showing me what to delete etc, and it now works fine

Any chance you could copy the contents of the email here, for others affected?

Hi all a new member here, and thanking those who have started this site.
Anyway I have exactly the same problem as Crimlaw. I tried going to the link in this thread as posted by Andy_P but post 28 doesn't seem to tell me much? Or I'm stupid - more likely! Can anyone help please? Thanks Andy Palm |

Actually I think the post should have been #21
Try connecting you TT to your computer and then choose operate my TT in Home You should be prompted to download a file. After this you should find it bootsup normally when not connected to your PC |

I am trying this. One thing though when I switch on TT in its cradle it does put up a different pic (of TT in its cradle) and does a timer thing, however it never auto starts Home. I use a mac pc. Do you know if these are not so good with macs?

Antoekne - thanks for your help, since I posted my last I have been trying to get into "my go720" however it prompts me to remove and reconnect it - I have tried this many times - and also says above that it is trying to log in?
If I click on log in at bottom left of home it says cant login at moment, communicating with TomTom plus! What is TomTom plus do you know? Sorry for all the questions - very new to this! Andy |

The login needs you to have created a user account with TT
If you haven't go here: http://www.tomtom.com/ and choose create account on the righthand side Plus is the extra service options that you can use with your TT i.e. Traffic |

Antoeknee - I have a user account. when I connect my TT the stuff on it can be read in explorer, but when I click on My Go 720 it just says to disconnect and reconnect and I keep doing this but to no avail! Can I ask if you have had this exact problem as in Crimlaw's original post in this thread?
Cheers and thanks for the Plus info - der I did know that but had a thick moment! This is doing my head!! |

If you start Home without your TT docked will it login?
My problem wasn't exactly the same but others had had something similar and the work round I posted had helped. Maybe your problem is a differnet issue. Might be worth a PM to Crimlaw to see if he'll forward the mail from TT that sorted his problem. This post has been edited by Antoeknee: Dec 4 2007, 01:16 |

The Mac version of Home is apparently a bit of a turkey and is still version 1. something isn't it.
V2.1 is needed for a lot of things (like installing new maps, and Mac users seem to have been left out in the cold rather. But I've heard on the grapevine that a new version for the Mac is not too far away now. P.S. sorry for the duff "post #28". I DID mean "21"! |

Hmm I knew I shouldn't have let the misses talk me into this darn mac! I shall have to try and install Home on someone's windows system!
