Hi,
I have the TomTom 520 and had no trouble until today when I connected to TT Home and updated to latest version of TT Home. Part of the way through it told me I needed an extra file but it was not available at that time. I uninstalled the update and reinstalled the version 7 from the CD. After that when I try to access different items on TT Home I get this message flashing up about 3 times in a row:
Parse Error in file “C:\ Documents and Settings …….. Line 3: invalid value for ‘language’ attribute: ‘en-GB’.
Valid values have RFC 1766 format (eg. ‘en’ or ‘en_US')
I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times with the same result and I do not understand why I am having this trouble, could anyone help me please?
Brian

You are not alone in this. Everytime I start the virtual device it crashes the home program. I have had a real gutfull of these morons at TT.

Got it working again now but the only way I could do it was by doing a hard reset by using the reset hole underneath the unit.

Hi Arther,
I first tried restoring to an earlier time but it still did it. Then I tried the reset but still got the same result. It is as though I have a corrupt file but although I uninstall and reinstall it still happens. I am now using the latest version of TT Home with same result.

Hi brianbj,
when you say you did a sytem restore did you mean windows roll back? If so the problem is when you do this windows does not alter anything in the "MyDocuments" folder where the tomtom home stoage file is.

The error "C:\ Documents and Settings....." does it end with "..\TomTom Home\.."

I think you upgraded to to HOME 2.0, downloaded an English voice, and then went back to HOME 1.6?
It seems you have gotten a voice that only HOME 2 understands how to install.

To go back: Go to My Documents\TomTom, use Explorer to search for *.toc files containing "en-GB" and remove all of them.

Hi slednap and MSalters,
Between the two of you, you have cracked it for me! I had a look for the *.toc files as suggested and found them because the error message ended in From Device\data 04.toc also 05.toc.
I figured I would start from scratch again and uninstalled Home again. Then I went to My Docs and deleted everything which was left in the TomTom folder and did the same in the My Programmes folder.
Then I re-installed from the CD and everything seems fine now.
Thankyou all very much,
Best regards,
Brian
