My first priority wish now is to be a beta tester for Navcore 7.
But it seems to be no chance for that. The Navcore 7 looks very fine, Map Share is the product I have hoped for for a long time no. |

My concern is will the new units still have an audio output, instead of that horrible FM modulator...

Now that is a upgrade I would be prepared to buy a new device for, some really good changes, a bit more revolutionary than evolution than usual and at last.

wow , lots of new features :statusbar horizontal/vertical, automatic zooming on/off. They could also do some new voices for navigating ...Im totally bored with this Finnish male voice and female voice is so bad that it cant be used, Tomtom devices got always mention about this comparison tests....I have asked this also from tomtom support but no new voices has been made...

"So record your own"
and if you can't stand the sound of your own voice, then there is the ability to send your voice file to each other via tomtom. We could start a "voice bank" that we could upload our own / created voices to, to share with others. What do you think? Hopefully the tomtom saves then in the same format as pre-existing voice files. |

yep, that new recording feature maybe will courage people to make own voices. Dont wanna my own voice for navigatin (thou I have speedcamera oggs with own voice) Would that recording need some microphone that tomtom one doesnt have? and lets hope the format is same old one. Anyway I have always wondered how Tomtom original Finnish female voice is so bad, it sounds like some foreigner speaking it. I sent mail to tomtom support request about new voices about half an year ago, but nothing has appeared. They could sell those new voices....Ill bet there could be quite many buyers.

DrPepper,
the microphone will be the same as the internal one used for hands free, which I think is supposed to have been improved. The quality of the recording won't be as good as the professional ones, but I would think that as long as you find a nice quite place, and don't have the microphone too close to you when you speak, then the quality should be at least as good as that of the ones people have done themselves on the computer. For some reason people think that the closer you hold the mic to your mouth the better the recording will be, this isn't true. This post has been edited by DarrenUK: Jun 10 2007, 17:24 |

But you could still download a voice file made by someone else. You said in a post before that you didn't want to use your own voice anyway. Tomtom can't stop people sharing voice files of their own voices. I'm sure that once the new go's are out, then there will be at least some people that post them somewhere. Would be good to get ones with more regional accents instead of just the box standard english ones. For example: Scottish, Welsh, Geordie, Scouse etc. |

The inbuilt voice record feature is a nice addition, but we've always been able to record our own navigation voice files.
The best description of the process I've seen is on Graeme Lucas' Website |
