HELP!!!!!
I installed the new ttsystem file with Firefox as this post recommends. The Tomtom 910 now cuts on and off as proimised! Great! BUT........... Now it does not recognize my GPS? It simply states GPS signal lost 5, 10, 15 etc. seconds ago. Ugh! What happened? Did I miss something? Please post back ASAP as I have no navigational abilities at this point... Thanks in advance. |

I also have the continuous orange 40% battery display, and no mention of charging. I have done a reset, and have no extra bits.
It's a pity, as the auto shut off is good, and with the replacement mount, there is no intermittent off / on as there was with the original firmware and mount. Any thoughts on a patch to remedy this? |

Tomtom is supposed to publish their current Linux kernel at www.tomtom.com/gpl. This is a condition of using the shareware linux operating system. I got the kernel and the tools to compile it from tomtom's site. It looks like perhaps they have modified the kernel and not published it under the GPL rules. We can ask them to do this which will probably fix all problems. As I said in an earlier post, I have not changed the nav program (they don't publish the source), all I have done is to re-comile the kernel without the disabling of the onoff function, and zipped up this along with the existing nav program and called it ttsystem. Did everyone else have a problem with their handsfree? I would hear some people repeat words I did (see post above)...and I also had the issue while navigating where my location was off significantly. This would cause me to miss turns or be prompted to turn a block too early. My current location would jump around quite a bit on the map display. I had to revert back to the latest official firmware release....but man, I miss the auto power-off! This post has been edited by mux1: Apr 16 2007, 05:41 |

Hi
Has there been any update on this replacement TTSystem file I am so very keen to get the igniton off feature back. Seems TomTom's development team just seem dedicated to steming and circumventing any inginuity and wishes of their customers. |

Hallo to everybody,
David from the german meintomtom.de forum has done it! He spent some time with a TT-developer and finally made it. He used the newest Linux-Kernel Built 1619 (just a very few days old), used in the FW-update 6.525 and got both fully tmc functionality and auto shut down. So far it has been tested on his GO 910 only, but should be working on the 510 and 710 as well. Be careful anyway and don't forget the backup-copy, at least of the file ttsystem. Here is a short translation of Davids readme: Connect the TT to the PC via USB Open Windows-Explorer and backup the file ttsystem to your PC Download the file ttsystem_1619_patched to your TT Rename this file to ttsystem, thus overwriting the existing file Done And >>>here<<< is the link to Davids Download Page. You have to continue by clicking the Button GMX MediaCenter starten. It's a 30 days download link only, so hurry up and test it out. Have fun, and thanks again to Andrew Crane for his initial idea. ... And >>>here<<< is the link to Davids Download Page. You have to continue by clicking the Button GMX MediaCenter starten. ... How are you supposed to download the ttsystem? After doing the click above you're presented with 2 file icons. If I select the ttsystem one it loads it onto the IE screen. Theres no "save-as" edit: ok figured it out. Have to select file icon, then use Datei menu at top, then select download, then allow IE popup ... Couldn't have been more clumsy. This post has been edited by vroomfondel: May 10 2007, 17:07 |

Bad news!
Actual reports in our forum say that TMC is not working! So forget about the patched ttsystem, until the bug is found. I'm truly sorry for that, but David is already working on it. According to him he should have got the exact version of the last update from TomTom, but it seems... Oskar -------------------- GO 740 LIVE / GO 720T / XL

Hi all
Tried the latest "ttsystem" file and the unit booted up and come up with what can best be described as "Lost in Transllation" the functions and menu titles came up with different (and sometimes weird) descriptions and names and the unit also locked up after a few screen selections. this may seem like a really stupid question but is this a German version of the "ttsystem" file, and is it going to be markedly different. |

Hi there again,
David from the german www.meintomtom.de/forum tried it once and failed. But he didn't gave up, tried hard a second time and now has really made it. The lost auto-shut-down function for all x10 GO's is back. So far it's not really been tested on the RIDER and the ONE but we believe it should be working on the ONE's as well at least. The difference to his first trial is significant, because this time he is not fussing around with the ttsystem file anymore. As some of you already know TMC was not working with the first solution and the menu structure was a little bit shaken up. So please refrain on continuing to use it! Instead, you go directly to Davids new download link and open/read the readme file first. Everything is explained in here. Be careful with the cleanup.txt file! You have to download the following three files: autopoweroff.ko cleanup.txt startautopoweroff.sh If someone is interested in how it works there is the folder src/drivers/barcelona/autopoweroff/ with the file autopoweroff.c It's the source code of Davids kernel module. Good luck to all of you. Oskar -------------------- GO 740 LIVE / GO 720T / XL

One difference from the TTSYSTEM modification for 6.524 and to this script for 6.525.
The power off when the ignition turns off is working good. But you have to turn the unit on manualy. In case it is possible to solve, I want turn on too like the old modification. Thanks for the mod, better with auto turn off or all manualy. |

I have to correct myself.
This software seems to need more than one power on an off to function ok. Today the unit starts and stops automaticly when I starts and stops the cat. Perfect functionolaity. Thanks to the author. |

I wasn't having any luck with the startup script and kernel module.. I placed the 3 files in the root (I have a 910 by the way) and did a hard reset (depressed the reset button underneath) and I don't see a /lib folder that should be created according to the script, no? any ideas?
