Andy_P I might use it if it was
a ) any use
b ) likely to work when I try it

This is on a TT Go720.

a ) I don't see much point in it if (even when it is working), you still have to tap the screen several times both before and after the voice input bit.

b ) The only time I ever really look at it, is when I'm trying to show it off to someone else. At least 50% of the time it simply refuses to work (does not register audio input at all) and it then takes a restore of a backup to get it working again.

gadget_sa I try to use it too... as Andy says - it's hit and miss at working, but when it does it works well for me!

I only have to touch the screen once; asks for town, street and number - goes off and plots the route and the sends me on my way!
BUT - I don't have the "Ask Arrival Time" ticked or the "Plan Fastest Route" option set to Ask.
This then adds another two pushes and a further third to get off the summary screen if you don't set it to auto close after 10 seconds...

Every time I connect to the PC it disables the microphone so it doesn't register your voice (along with resetting voices, resetting the Quick Menu button and occasionally the cursor) - so a reset has to be done and then set everything up again!

Like I said, when it works it's great - but I can't be doing with all the hassles!!!
Be nice if it did Favourites though....

Wishlist I would use it more if it did postcodes. 99% of the time I nav to just a postcode and a number.

Bruce I never use it. It's quicker to tap it in. TomTom should spend more time fixing the basics like Traffic in all its guises instead of adding gimmicks.

But you have already had to tap:
1. the menu...
2. Navigate to...
3. Address...
4. Dialogue...

I've got it set to ask for fastest/shortest etc. so that's one more.

It REALLY should be initiated with one or two taps at most (probably from the quick menu) and it should understand "Postcodes", "Home" and instructions like "up", "down", "select" etc. so you can get round any menu, even if a bit slowly.

Exactly that Andy - I have it on my Quick Menu so it is one no, you're right... two taps to activation, and then as above, I have the rest set up so i don't have to touch.
I agree with you on the other comments too.. Postcodes/Favourites/POI's should be a voice option...
It would be nice for it to ask "Navigate To" and then give numbered options to call out for Address/Postcodes/Favourites/POI's.
I wouldn't have thought it was that hard to programme??!!
