I'll wait and see. If it works as advertised then it should crap all over TT Traffic.. but it could just be more of the same.

It's really comparing to what's there - eg. there's TT Traffic, text based mobile traffic systems, or even something like TrafficTV which will even show you the output from the cameras! There's no question that TMC is better than nothing.. but if you need that information you probably don't have nothing at the moment.

Well, TMC data over here seems to be a bit scarce. Traffic data isn't too detailed either, but it's much more complete

Yes, if it provides the same or similar data to the current Traffic system. If it is broadcasting continuously we will always have the most up to date traffic info. Also it will be independant of the mobile phone thus zero charges. Although the cost of traffic updates on the mobile seem very little. I've just done an 800 mile drive through Wales, England and Scotland. Initially I wasn't using Traffic but when we gradually came to a halt at junction 16 on the M6 southbound with reports of severe delays between junction 12 and 9, I activated Traffic. Set it to auto update every 15 minutes and to recalc route after every update. Got it recalc route to avoid delays, exited M6 at junction 15 and never looked back. Had a clear route for the rest of my journey! Last stretch from Harrogate to Stranraer was in torrential rain. I was impressed and will use it again. However, Traffic or I suspect TMC seems of little use in Northern Ireland! Recommended. Billy

A more useful poll would be whether the data quality is good enough to be useful. Whilst I use it I would rarely trust the data enough to re-route without corroboration from other sources as the data simply isn't accurate enough. Too many times I've come across serious traffic issues that TMC failed to report and others where the problem had long since gone but was still being reported by TMC. |

TMC may be better than nothing but as it is only updated every 15 mins and the antenna could entice theives i will stick to my TomTom plus real-time traffic.
