Only a few months after the GO 730 and 930 appeared in the shops, it seems that TomTom already has a successor lined up. On the website of a UK reseller, there is mention of a TomTom GO 940 LIVE.Unknown
Not a lot of information is available yet but, according to the site, the new series will be shipped with the so-called LIVE services. The full extent of these services is unknown at the moment, but there should be several; among which are TomTom's traffic information service, HD Traffic. What is new are the so-called "safety warnings", petrol prices and the option of doing a local search with the aid of the Google search engine. Details are still unknown though, and when asked, TomTom responds via a spokesman that "it does "not respond to rumours"Successor
The quick arrival of the GO x40 series is somewhat surprising, but on the other hand it could also explain why the GO x30 series, which was introduced last March, is 100% identical (hardware-wise) to the GO x20 of 2007. As you all know by know, this x30 series only shipped with a new software version and some very discrete aesthetic changes. We now believe the x40 was probably meant to be the real successor, but unknown circumstances have somehow prevented TomTom from shipping it before now.It has not been disclosed yet when TomTom will release the new devices. What we do know, is that next Friday the annual IFA fair starts in Berlin. We wouldn't at all be surprised if TomTom had something interesting to announce then...
