The new 2008 TomTom GO generation, which was announced at CeBIT, will most likely become available in the shops this month. Recommended retail prices have still not been officially disclosed, but other sources provide us with a good indication of which prices may be expected.Three versions
In theory, the new GO’s can be shipped in three versions: one without traffic information options, one with RDS/TMC receiver and one with a supplied HD Traffic receiver. Which version will become available in which countries is still not clear, but what is clear is that the HD Traffic version will for now only be sold in the Netherlands, since the new TomTom service is not yet operational in other countries.We believe the ‘basic’ GO 930 (with European, US and Canadian maps) and 730 (European maps only) will be sold for ¤ 449 and ¤ 399. The TMC version usually costs about ¤ 50 more, so this means these devices will cost ¤ 499 (GO 930 Traffic) and ¤ 449 (GO 730 Traffic).
Harder
Predicting the price of the HD Traffic versions is a bit harder. We can use the accessory price of the HD Traffic receiver for the GO x20 series, which is currently ¤ 99.95, but that price also includes a map update which is not necessary for the x30 series. This means that, if TomTom really intends to promote the HD Traffic service, the prices of the HD units could be equal to the prices of the TMC units: ¤ 499 (GO 930 Traffic) and ¤ 449 (GO 730 Traffic). A slightly higher price can't be excluded of course.Also be aware the amounts mentioned are introductory prices. We have no doubt that lower prices will be available real soon, especially in the many online shops.
NavCore 8
The GO 930 and 730 are identical in hardware to the previous generation, the GO 920 and 720.
