Fewer costs when using navigation

Fewer costs when using navigationNAVTEQ has done some research amongst managers of distribution and service providing companies lately. The American digital map providing company was looking for the added value of integrated navigational systems, more in particular coupling the navigational systems to automated company applications. Common adaptations are fleet-management solutions, the optimisation of assignments and routes for mechanics and relation management solutions.

Cost saving
NAVTEQ claims the research has shown that integrated navigational solutions lead to a cost saving of 15% on fuel and 18% on travel time. Apart from that, the costs for communication between different co-workers also lowered by 40%. This substantial saving happens because the transfer of information improves and less errors are made in allotting assignments. Because there is less and more efficient communication, there are fewer costs, and the communications themselves are also safer than through phoning, texting or other means.

The use of navigational systems does not only lead to cost savings. Companies which use these solutions can count on more business from their customers, an increase of up to 10%, according to NAVTEQ. This is because co-workers are more punctual in their (service) appointments, and this increases the customer
satisfaction. Other positive consequences of using integrated navigational systems are the lower training time chauffeurs or other mobile co-workers need, and the decline in the total number of personnel changing jobs because they experience less stress and overall enjoy their jobs more.

For many consumers, the use of fleet management systems in combination with navigational systems is unknown territory. Still, most navigational system manufacturers have been busy creating and optimising these kinds of solutions. Examples of these kinds of products are TomTom WORK, Garmin Fleet Management Solutions and VDO Fleet Manager.

Jolly Roger Thats the point, the office prepares the routes in advance and allocates them to each vehicle.
