While one German manufacturer keeps it's business inside the German borders and chooses for a collaboration with Porsche, another looks a bit more to the South for a partner: Becker collaborates with the company of the 'Cavallino Rampante' and presents the Becker Traffic Assist Pro 7929, an official Ferrari-Licenced product.

Colours
On the inside, this Traffic Assist is identical to the recently announced Traffic Assist Pro 7916, and therefor offers all which is expected from a current PND: a powerful 400 Mhz CPU, 64 MB of RAM, and the in the meantime become very renowned SiRF Star III chipset for GPS reception. This PND features a 4 inch touch screen, and NAVTEQ maps of 37 European countries are shipped with the unit on SD card.

Of course the exterior of the model does differ from the 7916. The colours used are identical to the official Ferrari Gran Turismo-colours: 'Rosso Corsa' for the frame of the navigational device, and 'Nero Daytona' for the four buttons to the sides of the screen.

Enthusiasts will have to be patient until this November though, because it's not until then that this PND will make it's entry into the shops.

Wishlist Nothing says “I don’t own a Ferrari” more than a Ferrari sat nav…with the exception of a Ferrari jacket or such like. Shame.

But a pretty nice addition to anyone with an older Ferrari who wants SatNav fitted and made to look integrated.

Does anyone here have a traffic assist pro who can assist to load Australian maps onto it?

Jolly Roger According to the manual...

Transferring maps
The installation software from the DVD should be used for the transfer.

So do you have a DVD ?

Yes, I have the CD which contains all of the software reqired to reload the unit in the event of a system crash.

I have an old Testarosssa and thought it would be very cool to integrate this beautiful looking unit into the car so I purchased one new from the UK and had it sent to Australia.

When it's turned on it knows exactly where it is and everything works, except it just asks for maps.

The map file is on the SD card and is 1.75Gb in size. It is one file simply called europe.map

I'm lead to believe that if I could locate a piece of software that can open the .map file and allow me to see the structure and composition of the file, that I can load in Australian maps, which I'm more than happy to purchase, then close and save the file and the unit will work perfectly.

Does anyone here have any knowledge of any software which would allow me to modify the original europe.map file?

This would be such a first here in Australia. Most of the Ferrari owners are wealthy socialites with newer cars. You hardly ever see any older cars like mine, and they turn there noses up at the old cars anyway. I'd love to have the first Testarossa in Austalia with genuine Ferrari satNav.

Any help would be really appreciated.
