From the very first announcement of the new 2006 models by Mio, the Mio H610 was mentioned. It has taken up to today until some new news popped up about the device: the H610 will be available in Europe starting this October.Target audience
This H610 is actually old news. But still, today's announcement contained something extra: the H610 will be presented by Mio as *the* PND for women. We're not quite sure what is supposed to be so feminine about the unit though. Ok, so the device is very small (85x59x19 mm), but men might find that handy too. Our guess is that Mio is especially referring to the changeable covers of the unit. One of those covers is shown on the photo to the right here, and it's indeed not very 'manly'.
Mio isn't unique with this feminine approach though. Frequent visitors of this site might remember the Buddy by Intempo Digital.
All-round
The H610, which is equipped with a 2,7 inch touch screen, 400 Mhz CPU and 2 GB of internal flash memory can do a lot more than only helping at navigating: the device is a true do-all, and is also usable as a photo-viewer, a game console, an MP3-player and a video-player. And with the pre-installed WorldMate software the unit also shows the regional weather info, converts currencies and dimension scales and shows international phone access codes."If you want to be successful on the current market, you need to be able to combine technology with design", claims Marketing Manager Leo Exter of Mio Technology Europe. "At Mio Technology we not only make sure that our products offer the latest in navigational technology and good value for money, but we also put a lot of thought into the design of our units. This is the aspect in which we differ from our competitors."
Mio has been awarded an international design award for the H610 by the Chinese IF Committee. This proves that they are not alone with their view.
