The Navigon P9611 which is currently being presented to the public at the IFA fair in Berlin, Germany, is a very special specimen. And so it should be if the design is from the hand of Porsche design.

Big
Apart from the design, it seems that Porsche has also has it's hand in the choosing of the device's specifications. Because those aren't too shabby to say the least: a 4,3 inch touch screen, an Intel XScale 520 Mhz CPU and a special Intel 2700G graphical CPU.

The choice of GPS chipset is surprising. Because this time we don't see the omni-present SiRF Star III being implemented, but rather the Antaris4 SuperSense. We're very curious to see what this chip can do. Also not very standard: besides the 0,4 watts speaker which is built into the device, the sound can also be produced via the powerful 1,7 watts speaker which is built into the car mount.

For the complete specifications, please have a look at our Product File.

The Navigon P9611 Porsche runs on Navigon MobileNavigator 6, and has NAVTEQ maps of 37 European countries on SD card at it's disposition. The device supports hands free phoning through Bluetooth and features a built-in TMC receiver for traffic-info.

This PND will become available mid-November 2006, for the price of +/- ¤ 750,- (£ 500,-).
