Navigating isn't a unknown feature for LOOX PDA's, but now manufacturer Fujitsu-Siemens introduces two real Personal Navigation Devices: the Pocket LOOX N100 and the N110.Size
One thing that immediately jumps to the eye with this new LOOX series is the extremely small size of the units. Fujitsu-Siemens even claims to have built the smallest and lightest PND in the world. And if we look at the LOOX' specifications (89x62x16 mm, 100 gram), we believe they may be right. Also very nice is the fact that you can use the screen in landscape as well as in portrait mode.
The LOOX N100 series runs on Windows CE 5.0 and the navigational software is available from Navigon. Fujitsu-Siemens uses the most recent version of MobileNavigator. The widely-renowned version 6 was presented to the public a while ago, and is now starting to find it's way into the products of several manufacturers.Specifications
Both versions, the N100 and N110, are as good as identical: 2,8 inch touch screen, 300 Mhz CPU, 64 MB of RAM and a SiRF Star III chipset. The difference is in the memory: the N100 uses 128 MB of flash (+ SD card), and the N110 has 2 GB of flash memory. Both devices are shipped standard with a regional map of the area where the device is purchased, but of course there are several expansions available as an option.
Extras
Fujitsu-Siemens is shipping a few nice extras with the unit. The LOOX has a standard integrated audio player (for playing MP3, WMA and AAC), a world clock, an alarm clock, an agenda, a calculator, and even a few small retrogames (amongst which PacMan!) pre-installed.For those who like to personalise their navigational solution: there are changeable covers available for the the Pocket LOOX N100 series in lots of different colours.
For now, it's still unknown when the LOOX PND's will become available. Also the advised retail prices aren't annouced yet.
